This was totally fucking crazy, but it seemed so right too. Maybe I was that far off kilter or something. I’d fantasised before and always seemed to get a hard-on when my buddy Ethan checks Clarice out around the flat. I never imagined actually ever letting another dude have sex with Clarice though.

Then the other guy to end up fucking her was a powerfully-built black man, a descendant of the people I’ve spent my adult life studying. I was so intrigued by this. I got why my girlfriend wouldn’t have been able to resist this Kato dude. Apart from probably being swept up in the moment, Clarice would have known I wouldn’t want her to resist.

These thoughts churned through my head all day and had me tossing and kicking at the bedclothes through the night. I had shifts at the museum all week and more tutoring each evening, while Clarice was flat out at the university labs and spending evenings with her mother and sister, getting ready for our wedding.

Ethan had arrived home mid-week and was also busy with plans and arrangements for the dig they were organising. I’d bumped into him at breakfast twice and just held his eye contact. He hadn’t tried to offer an explanation about getting my girlfriend to suck him off, and I hadn’t quite figured out how to challenge him on that.

One night I was out with Ethan and a few mates. We ended up at a strip joint and saw a show then got a lap dance each. I didn’t get very drunk, and I still hadn’t confronted my best man about what we were both obviously thinking about all night.

We were dropped off home at eleven. We waved our mates off, one of them our designated minibus driver.

“Hey, man, are we good?” Ethan asked, gripping my shoulder as we walked towards the apartment building. “Do we need to talk or what?”

“Yeah, naa, all good, man. I know what happened. Clarice told me everything, and I’m okay with it.”

“Oh right. Yeah, coz it did just happen. It’s not like I was trying to get with her at all.”

“I know.” I glanced at my buddy. “To be honest, I didn’t mind it was with you and that Kato guy. It’s a bit freaky that it was Prof too. It’s gonna be weird next time I bump into him.”

Ethan chuckled. “Shit yeah. He was cool though. He was shocked as. It’s not like he was hitting on Clarice either, man. The whole thing just happened with us all stripping off and that. I dunno how they do it and not have it get all sexual. Though apparently the younger generation coming home for their festival do get pretty fucking full on. But I guess it’s a novelty, getting’ round with next to nothin’ on – the chicks with their tits out and that – us with our balls swingin’ fucking loose, haha.”

I laughed along with my buddy, feeling good that we were airing this.

“So anyway, it’s too bad you didn’t get your funding.
